Wellness Exams & Sick Visits

Paws Calls provides comprehensive in-home wellness and sick visits, allowing your pet to receive high-quality veterinary care in the comfort and familiarity of home. Each visit includes a thorough physical examination, administration of necessary vaccinations, and careful evaluation of any health concerns — helping your pet remain healthy, relaxed, and stress-free. Our in-home services include all core and recommended vaccines, heartworm testing, flea and tick prevention, and customized wellness plans covering routine blood work and nutrition guidance.

Pain Management

We offer compassionate and effective pain management solutions for pets experiencing chronic or debilitating conditions, with a special focus on geriatric patients. Our veterinarian uses comprehensive pain-scoring assessments to accurately evaluate your pet's comfort level and develop individual treatment plans. We provide pain-relief consultations and prioritize educating owners on recognizing signs of discomfort — helping you manage your pet's pain while improving their comfort, mobility, and overall quality of life.

End of Life Care

About

Dr. Kara M. Ryczek

Dr. Ryczek has been practicing veterinary medicine for over 25 years. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Trinity College and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University. She then completed a post-doctoral 13-month rotating internship at VCA South Shore Animal Hospital in South Weymouth, MA — covering medical, surgical, cardiac, ophthalmic, dental, and emergency cases.

Dr. Ryczek has since worked in both private practices and emergency/critical care hospitals. After relocating back to Longmeadow, MA, she founded Paws Calls in 2020 — providing exceptional in-home veterinary services that prioritize both our care for pets and convenience for their owners.

Dr. Ryczek remains based in Longmeadow, where she lives with her two children, one yellow lab, and two feline friends. Outside of work, she enjoys running, coaching, reading, cooking, and traveling with her children.

Yes, you will pay a bit more but it's worth it for us. Dr. Ryczek is also very responsive to texts and emails which is helpful. We can send photos or videos to help diagnose issues that don't require a visit. She is patient and takes her time. I don't know what we'd do without her.”
